Chocolate Chips Association

The Chocolate Chips Association is a not-for-profit organization in Lake County, IL, and its mission is to provide the opportunity for young girls to gain greater exposure to the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Art and Math (S.T.E².A.M.). 

The Association strives to create a learning environment that uplifts and motivates individuals through activity-based educational curriculum, greater cultural awareness, mentoring and promoting healthy lifestyles. 

1. When does the 2017/2018 Registration start?  Registration started August 1, 2017 and is now closed.

2. When does the actual Chocolate Chips Meetings start?  The first meeting for the Fall session begins on Saturday, September 9th, at 1:00 PM.

3. Where are the meetings held? The in-house meetings are held in Gurnee at the Woodland Intermediate School.  Various Field Trips are held at different locations.

4. How often does the group meet?  The meetings are held two Saturdays a month, which is usually the 2nd and 4th Saturdays.  A schedule is provided for the entire year at the first meeting, held on September 9th.

5. Is there a cost for my daughter to join the Chocolate Chips Association?  Yes. The financial obligation includes a membership fee and participation in two fundraisers.

6. Are there additional family obligations for my daughter to join Chocolate Chips? Yes. Each family is requested to volunteer for at least three of the planned activities.

7. What is the age of the girls in the program?  Our program is for girls in 2nd to 5th grades.  

8. If my daughter does not join this year, but want to attend some events, is that possible?  We host several open events during the year which includes the Father and Daughter Dance (girls in community invited in grades 1st to 8th grades), Sickle Cell Awareness Program (open to family and community), Mother and Daughter Luncheon (open to female siblings, alumni, Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunts), and one or two fun outings and each current member can invite a friend. 9.  What activities are planned for the 2017 / 2018 core program year?

10. Are there other Chocolate Chip Association Programs in Lake County, IL?  Yes.  For the 2017 / 2018 year, Chocolate Chips Association leadership is hosting STEM workshops at the following locations: Oakdale Elementary School in Waukegan, Waukegan Housing Authority Armory and Barwell Homes, and Heart of the City Soccer Team and partnering with the YWCA Tech GRYLS Robotics Team.
